The modified live viral components (DHPP) replicate briefly in the host, mimicking natural infection without causing disease. This triggers a strong, sustained cell-mediated and humoral immune response. The inactivated bacterial components (Leptospira) do not replicate but provide enough antigen to stimulate the production of opsonizing and neutralizing antibodies (IgG).
