Each bolus contains:
Sulphadimidine. 5 gm
Excipients. q.s.

Treatment of bacterial pneumonia and shipping fever.
Management of bacterial scours and calf diphtheria.
Effective for acute metritis and mastitis infections.
Useful for foot rot caused by susceptible organisms.
Indicated for Coccidiosis and other protozoal infections.

Sulphadimidine is a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic sulfonamide. It works by competitively inhibiting the enzyme dihydropteroate synthase, which is essential for the synthesis of folic acid in bacteria. Since folic acid is a necessary precursor for bacterial DNA and RNA production, this inhibition effectively prevents the microorganisms from reproducing and growing. This action makes it effective against susceptible Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, ultimately halting the infection's spread.
