Injection

Composition

Each ml contains:
Enrofloxacin. 100 mg
Excipients. q.s.

Indications

Treatment of acute, subacute, and chronic respiratory tract infections (e.g., pneumonia).
Management of gastrointestinal infections (e.g., bacterial enteritis, coccidiosis).
Control of urogenital infections (metritis, pyelonephritis).
Effective against infections causing foot rot and septicemia.
Treating diseases caused by Trimethoprim-Sulphadiazine sensitive organisms.

Mechanism of Action

SULFTRIM 240 provides sequential blockade of the bacterial folic acid pathway, resulting in a potent bactericidal effect. Sulphadiazine competitively inhibits the incorporation of PABA into dihydrofolic acid. Simultaneously, Trimethoprim prevents the reduction of dihydrofolic acid to the final, necessary tetrahydrofolic acid. Because bacteria cannot utilize external folic acid, this two-step inhibition starves the cell of essential co-factors required for DNA and protein synthesis, leading to rapid and irreversible cell death.

Benefits

Potent bactericidal action due to synergistic drug combination.
Broad spectrum against Gram-positive, Gram-negative, and some protozoa.
Reduces risk of resistance compared to single-drug sulfa therapy.
Rapid absorption and good distribution across tissue barriers.
Effective therapeutic levels maintained for 24 hours.
