Indications

Treatment of symptoms associated with Canine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome (CCDS).
Management of certain behavioral problems, including anxiety and phobias.
Control of signs like disorientation, altered interaction, & house-soiling in older dogs.
Pituitary-dependent hyperadrenocorticism (PDH) in middle aged & senile dogs & cats

Mechanism of Action

Selegiline is a selective, irreversible inhibitor of Monoamine Oxidase Type B (MAO-B). This enzyme is responsible for the breakdown of neurotransmitters like dopamine in the brain. By inhibiting MAO-B, Selegiline increases the availability of dopamine, norepinephrine, and phenethylamine in the central nervous system. This enhances neurotransmission, which is crucial for managing behavioral issues and symptoms of Canine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome (CCDS) by improving memory and learning.

Benefits

Improves cognitive function and increases social interaction in aging dogs.
Reduces nocturnal pacing and restlessness associated with CCDS .
Helps normalize disrupted sleep-wake cycles and decrease accidents.
