SALICOX 12

Salinomycin 12%
The Ionophore Shield Against Coccidia
Anti-coccidal
Poultry & Swine
Powder

Composition

Each gm contains:
Salinomycin 120 mg
Excipients q.s

Indications

Continuous prevention of coccidiosis in broiler chickens.
Control of major species (e.g., , ).
Inclusion in feed programs for young, susceptible birds.
Management of subclinical intestinal damage by Coccidia.
Reducing oocyst shedding and environmental contamination.

Mechanism of Action

Salinomycin is a monovalent ionophore anticoccidial that disrupts the ion balance within the parasite, particularly during the early asexual stages (Sporozoites and first-generation Schizonts). It works by forming lipid-soluble complexes with cations (like Na+ and K+ ) and transporting them across the parasite's cell membrane. This uncontrolled influx of ions, specifically sodium, leads to an excessive accumulation of water, causing osmotic swelling, mitochondrial damage, and ultimately, the rapid death of the coccidial cells. This action prevents the replication and destructive invasion of the poultry gut lining.

Benefits

High efficacy against most economically important species (Eimeria).
Reduces intestinal lesions, improving nutrient absorption.
Enhances bird performance by optimizing growth rate and FCR
Wide therapeutic margin and safe for prophylactic use.
Improves overall flock uniformity and gut health.
