Injection

Composition

Each ml contains:
Marbofloxacin. 100 mg
Excipients. q.s.

Indications

Treatment of severe Bovine Respiratory Disease (BRD) and pneumonia.
Management of systemic diseases like septicemia and E. coli infections.
Effective against infections of the urinary tract and reproductive organs (metritis).
Control of mastitis caused by sensitive strains of pathogens.
Use against pathogens resistant to first-line antibiotics.

Mechanism of Action

Marbofloxacin is a concentration-dependent bactericidal agent that functions by inhibiting the synthesis and replication of bacterial DNA. It specifically targets and inhibits two essential bacterial enzymes: DNA Gyrase (Topoisomerase II) and Topoisomerase IV. These enzymes are critical for uncoiling and separating bacterial DNA during replication and transcription. By blocking their action, Marbofloxacin causes irreparable damage to the bacteria's genetic material, leading to the rapid and decisive death of the bacterial cell. This dual mechanism provides superior efficacy.

Benefits

High bactericidal efficacy due to inhibition of dual enzymes.
Broad spectrum covers key Gram-negative and Gram-positive pathogens.
Excellent bioavailability and rapid therapeutic concentrations.
Effective penetration into tissues, including lungs and mammary glands.
Single-dose efficacy often possible for sensitive infections.

Usage & Recommendation

Cattle/Buffaloes (Adult): 1.0 ml per 50 kg body weight. Subcutaneous (S.C.) or I.M.
Dosage depends on the type of infection (single dose vs. multi-day treatment).
