Livestock
Bolus

Composition

Each bolus contains:
Levamisole. 300 mg
Excipients. q.s.

Indications

Treatment of roundworm infestations (Nematodes).
Effective against major gastrointestinal nematodes like Hemonchus, Ostertagia, and Trichostrongylus spp.
Control of lungworms (e.g., Dictyocaulus spp.).
Suitable for use in cattle, buffalo, sheep, and goats.

Mechanism of Action

Levamisole acts as an agonist at the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in susceptible nematodes, resulting in continuous muscle stimulation. This overstimulation rapidly leads to spastic paralysis of the parasitic worm. The paralyzed parasites are then unable to maintain their position and are expelled from the host's system. Levamisole is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic targeting both mature and developing larval stages.

Benefits

Broad-spectrum efficacy against common worms.
Effective against both mature and larval stages.
Highly effective at a low therapeutic dose.
Bolus form ensures easy and accurate oral administration.
Rapid absorption for quick onset of action.
