Hydroxyprogesterone Caproate is a synthetic Progestin, structurally and functionally similar to natural progesterone. It targets progesterone receptors in the uterus and hypothalamus. In the uterus, it promotes the secretory phase of the endometrium and suppresses uterine muscle contractions, which is crucial for the establishment and maintenance of pregnancy. Centrally, it inhibits the release of GnRH , thereby blocking FSH and LH secretion, effectively preventing ovulation and synchronizing estrus by imposing an artificial luteal phase. The caproate ester provides a sustained release profile.
