Bolus

Composition

Each bolus contains Halquinol 1.5 gm

Indications

Treatment of bacterial and protozoal diarrhea in calves and adult animals.
Management of non-specific gastroenteritis causing severe fluid loss.
To control clinical signs of calf scours due to sensitive organisms.
Supportive therapy during outbreaks of enteric infections.
Restoring normal gut flora after pathogen clearance.

Mechanism of Action

Halquinol is a quinoline derivative that works as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent specifically targeting the gastrointestinal tract. It exhibits strong activity against common bacterial pathogens (like E. coli and Salmonella) and protozoa (like Eimeria). Halquinol is poorly absorbed from the gut, concentrating its therapeutic action at the site of infection. By eliminating or suppressing the pathogenic organisms responsible for inflammation and hypersecretion, it rapidly reduces gut motility and fluid loss, leading to a quick resolution of diarrhea and restoration of normal fecal consistency.

Benefits

Rapidly controls acute and chronic diarrheal episodes.
Broad efficacy against common bacterial and protozoal pathogens.
Minimizes dehydration and loss of electrolytes.
Highly effective due to low systemic absorption (local action).
Convenient bolus form ensures accurate therapeutic dosing.

Usage & Recommendation

Cattle/Buffalo : Acute Diarrhea/Dysentery: 1.5 gm bolus per 150-200 kg body weight, once or twice daily.
