Treatment of pain and fever associated with Bovine Respiratory Disease (BRD).
Management of acute inflammatory conditions, including severe mastitis and metritis.
Relief of visceral and somatic pain, particularly associated with colic in horses.
Used as an adjunct therapy for endotoxemia and circulatory shock.
Effective reduction of pain and swelling associated with foot rot.
Flunixin is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that primarily exerts its effects by inhibiting the enzyme Cyclooxygenase (COX). By blocking this enzyme, it prevents the synthesis and release of prostaglandins?the potent chemical mediators responsible for generating fever (pyrexia), pain, and inflammation. Its strong anti-pyretic action makes it highly valuable in systemic febrile conditions. This mechanism effectively reduces clinical signs of inflammation, improves animal comfort, and aids recovery during infectious disease processes.
Rapid and potent control over fever and pain (analgesia).
Strong anti-endotoxic effect, crucial in septic conditions.
Reduces clinical distress and aids faster recovery during infections.
Effective management of pain in high-stress situations (e.g., transport).
Excellent efficacy when used alongside systemic antibiotic treatment.
Cattle/Buffaloes (Adult): 1.1 - 2.2 mg/kg body weight (approx. 1-2 ml per 45 kg)
Intravenous (I.V.) or Intramuscular (I.M.)
I.V. administration is often preferred for rapid onset, particularly in cases of endotoxemia.
