Cefpodoxime is a bactericidal agent that targets the bacterial cell wall. Like other - Beta Lactam antibiotics, it works by binding to and inactivating Penicillin-Binding Proteins (PBPs), which are essential enzymes involved in the final cross-linking stage of peptidoglycan synthesis-the primary component of the bacterial cell wall. This inhibition prevents the formation of a stable, structurally sound cell wall, leading to osmotic instability, lysis, and ultimately, bacterial death. Cefpodoxime is generally resistant to many common Beta -lactamase enzymes.
Broad-spectrum efficacy against common skin, respiratory, and UTI pathogens.
Third-generation activity offers improved resistance to Beta-lactamase enzymes.
Twice-daily (BID) dosing is often sufficient, enhancing owner compliance.
Suspension form allows for accurate dosing in small or difficult-to-pill animals.
High oral bioavailability ensures predictable therapeutic drug levels.
