MAMMICEF

Third-Generation Cephalosporin for Mastitis
Precision Infusion. Rapid Udder Recovery.
Intra Mammary
Livestock
Syringe

Composition

Each 10 ml prefilled syringe contains:
Cefoperazone 250 mg
Excipients Q.S

Indications

Treatment of clinical and sub-clinical bovine mastitis during the lactation period.
Effective against mastitis caused by Gram-negative organisms (e.g., E. coli).
Effective against mastitis caused by Gram-positive organisms (e.g., Staphylococcus, Streptococcus).
Used in targeted therapy following antibiotic sensitivity testing.
Management of acute udder inflammation caused by bacterial infection.

Mechanism of Action

Cefoperazone is a potent bactericidal antibiotic that acts by interfering with bacterial cell wall synthesis. It irreversibly inhibits the action of bacterial transpeptidases (Penicillin-Binding Proteins or PBPs). By blocking the cross-linking of peptidoglycan chains, it prevents the formation of a rigid, stable cell wall. This weakens the bacterial structure, leading to osmotic instability, cell lysis, and rapid death of the susceptible mastitis-causing pathogens.

Benefits

Third-generation activity provides powerful broad-spectrum efficacy against key pathogens.
Intra-mammary route ensures high concentration directly at the site of infection.
Low milk withdrawal periods compared to some older antibiotics.
Ready-to-use syringe ensures aseptic, accurate, and easy administration.
Bactericidal action provides rapid elimination of bacteria.

Usage & Recommendation

Treatment: Infuse the contents of one (10 ml) syringe into the affected quarter.
After milking, clean the teat end thoroughly before infusion.
Frequency: Administer every 12-24 hours for 2-3 days of consecutive doses, or as directed.
Gently massage the teat and udder to aid dispersion of the antibiotic.
